Sesshin/Long Retreats
Sesshin is a Japanese word meaning to touch the heart-mind. In the Japanese Zen tradition, a sesshin is a period of intensive meditation. Since some of our teachers studied Zen with Japanese teachers and some of our rituals and traditions come from Japan, we use the Japanese word sesshin for our longer meditation retreats. Although we use the word sesshin, PZI's meditation retreats have evolved from their Japanese roots into something that is more native to our western culture and present times.

PZI holds four week-long sesshin each year – one for each season.

When sesshin is in session, the Santa Rosa Creek Zendo in Santa Rosa is closed.
